when Nascar 4 installed the sound test passes but when running the game it
has no sound any suggerstions
running amd 650 soundblaster live value. thanks Merle

I have a SB Live! Value too and have no problems. I'm using LW3.0
drivers with the update patch. Are you? What version of Directx are
you using? You need at least 7.0a.

Had the exact same problem. Went into the app.ini file and changed the
focusCarSoundPriority from 2.000 to 1.000       Don't know what this does but
it worked and I now have sound!!

Just one thing to check.  Make sure that you're not running 4 speaker 3D mode
(in sound setup, not N4) with the speakers (or in my case, headphones) plugged
into the #2 out.  I had headphones plugged in to the number 2 port and was only
getting the surround sounds and no engine.

I went back and figured out how I got my sound to work. I hadinstalled a
program called Sound Recorder for recording Real Player, etc. This
program changed my setting in the control ppanel/multimedia
/audio/playback from SB16 wave out to Sound Recorder. Changed it back and
everything works fine. Even N3 which wouldn't even load with the settings
switched!!
