Hey gang,
Haven't recently reinstalled GPL and having found an even bigger new love
for it, I would like to attempt to get back into some online racing with it.
I know a lot has changed since it and Vroc first came out, would someone be
so kind as to give me the lowdown on what all is available and what I should
use, I know there is now spyboy, vroc, F2 and F3 races, etc etc.
I would much appreciate it.

If you have a cable modem make sure you add this line to your core.ini
file in the gpl folder and that it is called core.ini not core.ini.sample

[ Communications ]
alternate_ip_addr_lookup = 1  ; Find IP addresses another way

This will enable GPL to grab your Ip address from your NIC card and not
from DUN as it tries to by default.

I just created a new core.ini in notepad and added the above line.

Later on when I understand what the other core.ini settings in the
core.ini.sample file do I will add the ones I want to use.

When you save the file you create in notepad make sure you dont save it
as a txt file select Save As then select all file types then call it
core.ini and save it to the gpl folder.

Regards Al

What is this core.ini change for? I have a cable modem and my
connection is fine without changing this core.ini setting.
Does it have any advantages if I change my core.ini to this?

If GPL finds your IP address then you this line will be of no benefit to
you. It only tells GPL to "look harder" for the IP address.

Also make sure you have update GPL to V1.2 otherwise you won't be able
to join any races.
