It maybe so for some, but not for me.

It just gained another lease of life after i discovered the
stunttrack.  Taking me back to good 'ole stunt car racer on the amiga.

probably crammonds most fun racer, imo.

anyway if gpl is at the end of the road, all I'd like ask is that papy
consider a parting gift by way of a final patch.   it shouldn't take
more than a coupla hours work as the changes are minor (IMO).

1) remove the 64 track limit.  we are pushing 200 tracks already and
theres no signs of an end in sight.

2) allow the same statusbar info in the***pit view as for the
external view.  it was something i really missed when i was learning
to play.  many people don't like it as they prefer to use the visual
and aural feedback, but sometimes i like to know if i am hitting a
certain speed record before slamming the brakes on.

anyway, back to stunttrack.  hope theres more of the same coming from
the trackdesigners out there...

Regards all,
istoff

The last thing you want is to have to shuffle through 100+ tracks to
find the one you want. Reply Analyser has a track organizer tool which
solves the 64 track limit. Oh yeah, and you can always have more than
one GPL install wit 64 tracks installed on each.

Unrealistic, arcade rubbish, imo.

This sort of comment makes no sense to me - if other people want a feature
why not let them ask away? If it's implemented as an option (to be enabled
in an ini file) then you can continue as you always were.

IMO the ideal race sim would have an enormous amount of options and you'd be
able to configure things however you like. Hopefully the designers will be
intelligent enough to make sure that driving aids always end up slowing you
down.

Personally I use the F10 view's top speed readout when watching my laps in
replay mode, handy to see if that slightly altered top gear ratio has
actually made any difference by the end of the straight, or if I was just
thinking it was because I'd driven better on the rest of the lap.

Jim.

Why?

Where did I say they shouldn't be able to ask?

Sorry Gerry, I didn't realise that you were posting to say something like
"istoff, that's fine with me"... it sounded more like you were
simultaneously being rude to istoff and setting up for a flame thread
(trolling, I think it's called?)

The successor to GPL should support an arbitrary number of tracks, but, as
you correctly say, this is unmanageable without some way of structuring
them. What is needed is an "in game" means of allocating tracks to seasons,
then all you have to do is select the season before selecting the track you
want. This would allow people who race in leagues to group the seasons
circuits for each league they're in, and it could be just as easily used to
group your favourite tracks, tracks from different years (1967, 1968, etc.).

Andrew.

It's my opinion, if you don't like it...
