LFS and new soundcard problems

by Russel » Thu, 26 Aug 2004 04:12:49

I replaced my old Sound Blaster Live with a Sound Blaster Audigy 2.  It
sounds better and in some games/sims I even picked up a few more frames.
Unfortunately in LFS, it sounds worse.  It has extra popping noises
(no not engine damage.)  The worst is that after 2 to 3 minutes all
sounds are lost and the only way to get them back is to stop and start
LFS.

Any ideas?  Is there away to force LFS to see the new card and set up
for it the way (I guess it did) on the first installation (I'd rather
not do an uninstall/reinstall if I don't have to.)

Thanks,
Russell

you can press `shift w` to reinitialise the sound during the game and try
lowering the sound `delay` or `lag` found in options menu. good luck.....

Pressing shift w gets the sound back and it stays but only for that
race.  If I end the race and start a new one, the sound goes away again
after some time.  It kind of seams like is related do distance traveled
as compared to time.  The sound disappears at the same spot of the track
(at least in the few times I have recreated the problem.)  Very strange.

The Audigy 2 is a fairly popular card.  I am thinking that there are
some old drivers or something laying around that are causing this problem.
