NR2002 Lack of engine sound with 3D enabled

I have an Audigy sound card and have the problem with the main engine sound
disappearing (the idle sound is there) when 3D sound is checked.

Is this something that Papy will be fixing or is it due to a fault in the
Creative drivers?

Do you have a Nvidia card? For some reason the video drivers play hell with
the sounds. I have a philips sound card and I couldn't get playable sound
until i tried the 27.42 drivers

What drivers are you using Marc?
I am using the XP drivers from Creative, on win XP of course, and don't have
this problem with my Audigy Gamer.

Do you have 5.1 sound?  N2002 is pretty unique in the sense it uses 5
channel sound, and the engine sound comes fom the centre speaker only on my
Audigy.  If you haven't got a centre channel, is this perhaps the
explanation?

That's what I thought until I read that there were problems with the Audigy
and the Live! and that others with 2 speaker set-ups can use the 3D sound
option.

I lose the engine sound on my SBLive, 4 speaker setup, when running the
game for the first time.  I just uncheck 3Dsound, go into the car, hear
the sounds, press ESC choose Options, check 3Dsound, go into the car and
drive (with sounds).

Luckily, I haven't lost the engine sound when starting a race yet :)

....you mean you do this every time you start the game!!!!??!  Obviously it
is a bug in 2002, then.  (I thought maybe you only had to do this once to
reset something.)
