GP2: Modem session

by JEB » Mon, 29 Jul 1996 04:00:00

I am reading a lot of notes and getting some Email
regarding GP2 over the modem problems.
Mad Mikey and I had a 3 hour and 40 minute session
tonight.
P5/133 28.8 PP to a P6/200 USR 33.6.
19200 connection and detail lowered by two "alt-d"
presses.
It ran fine, very stable, nearly 4 hours, and the
frame rate was not just acceptable, it was very
good.
We raced Interlagos and then practised at Pacific.
I do NOT know why we are getting such good results
I just know that we are. It could be that both of
our modems have listing included in the game and we
do not have to mess with strings at all. I could be
that we are a local call. It could be we are lucky,
I'm not certain.

OH, forgot to mention. You know the way F1GP used to
choke, over the modem, when you jumped into the other
guys car to watch as a rider, well we are NOT seeing
this slow down at all.
