Hi, I'm looking for a site which has good setups for races, I looked
at one and I tried their australian setup...after 2 laps the plank was
over the 1mm limit!!!!!!!!
thanks for any help
Happy racing! :)

There seems to be 2 camps of driving schools out there. Those that only
work on the FASTEST hot lap setup and those that strive for the perfect
race setup. Well, perfect race setups don't post the "glamourous" times
that "hot lap" setups do. Therefore most of the setups one finds posted
are good for only a couple of laps.
I have found that one can take a "fast lap" setup and rework it for a
stable race setup. But, it's not as easy as just adjusting the ride
height. It still requires some work in the garage.
I would like to see more sites that "glory" in setups, provide both
"qualifying" and "race" setups. This goes for all of the sims out there,
not just GP2.
So, if you have a site out there that also offers quality "race" setups,
let us all know here in r.a.s. land.

I'm not doing anything silly concerning setups like huge difference of wing
(F/R) and really
pay attention to CAR BALANCE,TIRE WEAR (for raceday), no PLANK WEAR, less
than
0.1 mm. In terms of Car balance, i always work on level 2, take a look and
you'll be surprise
of those easy handling car. -->

ps: at this point hte page is complete for raceday setup, but working hard
on it!
Also i suggest you to take a look on my view on car setups, how to add a
clutch and add shifter
button mounted on steering wheel (for FORMULA T1 & T2) -->

Hope it will be of help, take care (My main GP2 page is:

See ya, Eric
I've spent a lot of time coming up with really fast one lap setups for
GP2 and have the times to match. I'm not going to improve my hotlap times
a great deal without resorting to using opposite lock, so I'm now working
on race setups with what I consider to be more realistic settings.
Most of my hotlap setups (as with most other drivers') have a much higher
front wing than rear producing a lot of aerodynamic oversteer. The
suspension is set to compensate this and has a lot of understeer dialed
in. This combination is fast, but VERY unpredictable in a race setting.
In my recent race setups I've been trying to get a far more neutral and
stable car. It might not be as fast, but it is a lot more predictable for
a race.
As a comparison here are my hotlap & race setups for Adelaide:
Hotlap (1:11.323 with no driving aids, opp lock or steering help):
Wings: 10F/03R
Gears: 36,43,48,53,58,64
Brake Bias: 59.000 %F
Anti-roll F: 2000 lbs
Anti-roll R: 50 lbs
LF RF LR RR
Packers: 33 33 0 0
Fast Bump: 2 2 0 0
Fast Rebound: 4 4 1 1
Slow Bump: 20 20 1 1
Slow Rebound: 22 22 2 2
Spring Rate: 1600 1600 1400 1400 (lbs)
Ride Height: 16.5 16.5 32.5 32.5 (mm)
Race (good enough to win at Ace+2 level):
Wings: 06F/06R
Gears: 36,42,48,53,58,63
Brake Bias: 59.500 %F
Anti-roll F: 2000 lbs
Anti-roll R: 100 lbs
LF RF LR RR
Packers: 0 0 0 0
Fast Bump: 2 2 1 1
Fast Rebound: 3 3 2 2
Slow Bump: 7 7 10 10
Slow Rebound: 10 10 14 14
Spring Rate: 1500 1500 1100 1100 (lbs)
Ride Height: 28.0 28.0 53.0 53.0 (mm)
I never got around to really fine tuning the race setup as I was too
impatient to run the race <g> but it was still very stable and above all,
predictable.
Note that the car is aerodynamically neutral, but that there is just a
little oversteer dialled into the suspension settings. There are no
packers in this setup as I found the rear end too twitchy through the
fast flicks such as the one between the Jones & Brabham straights.
That's not a bad idea! I've been trying to think of an angle that would
make it worthwhile putting up a sim site. This just might be it <g>
Cheers,
Richard
