XP Frame rate drop in N4

I have a p4 1.7, 384 ram gforce3 64, and xp.
on my system with ME I would have get around 80 to 100 fps in 1600x1200, now
with XP it's only 20 to 25 fps. Could you suggest something to try, I tried
everything I could think of.

Do you have Vsync set to always off?

Did you upgrade your drivers?  The ones XP ships with work, but suck for
performance.  23.11's are the fastest right now.

Make sure that your V-sync is off (Off Always is best setting). Also make
sure that you have the latest drivers for the GF3, I hear the latest 23+ are
pretty good in N4. At that high of resloution (I run either 1024 or 1152)
you may want to consider more RAM. I know everyone thinks 384 is a plenty,
but its not anymore. All my computers have 512MB.

Also make sure you are running 16bit color. The largest difference I can see
in 32 v. 16b colors is the frame rate hit that 32b causes. If you must run
32b color, than turn off FSAA. With current hardware specs, I would not try
both FSAA and 32bit color. They could have left 32b as far as I am
concerned, but it is up to you.

Run it in OpenGL mode. With XP, I get about 20-25 fps with D3D and about
70-80 with Open GL.
