Wheel with paddles for gas and brake ???

by Mike » Mon, 29 Nov 1999 04:00:00

I have been using a thrustmaster wheel that had the gas and brake as paddles
behind the wheel.  I have gotten used to this setup.  I want to get another
wheel, and I see that Thrustmaster still makes one with paddles for gas and
brake, but I was wondering if anyone else made a wheel with paddles for
gas/brake ???  Force feedback would be nice too...

See a pre-release review of the Guillemot Ferrari Force Feedback at
http://www.mgprs2.com/rev-gfff.htm

"F1 style shifters and gas/brake levers. ... One of the great features I
believe is the ability to use the gas and brake levers on the wheel instead
of the pedals (the small lever). Most important, this is the FIRST Force
Feedback wheel on the market that offers Force Feedback to users that
can't/or won't use there legs."

Why not buy whatever wheel you like and use the profile to set the paddles
to whatever keyboard command the game defaults gas and brake too?

Wheel with paddles for gas and brake ???

Mike, Brian and  Aaron,

I have used exclusively Wheels with paddles for two years because of
leg/nerve problems.

The problem is many of the wheels is that the paddles are shifters only and
do not have true servos needed for gas and brake in the wheels with true
gas/brake paddles .

At this point I use the following (depending on circumstances)
wheels:

            1. TM GP1 (I think it has been discontinued)
            2. TM Sprint
            3. Comp/USA Formula 1 ( private label.... made appears to
be  a TM T1/T2 with paddles)
            4. TSW2 EZ (just out !) ( Of the four,  this is this best made
wheel but I need some adjustments made to it)

I have not tried FF because I believe FF is still in it's infancy and not
all of the Sim (or Game) makers have bought into it !

Let me guess...

Because not all wheels have paddles that are NOT on/off, but rather
analog..<g>

I to would be most interested in this info. I have the
additional considerations of being a paraplegic, and so pedals
are totally useless to me. I'm using a TM Charger wheel now. I
LOVE the feel of the Logitech WM wheels, but alas, their paddles
are buttons only...
