Has anyone else had problems with getting NASCAR Racing to give them sound?
I never got any sound from the demo, and yesterday I bought the CD ROM
version and I still do not get any sound.  I have tried installing
it on two different machines, one with a Pro Audio Spectrum 16 and one with
an Aria 16.  Both are set up to emulate a Sound Blaster with an address of
220, IRQ 7 and DMA 1, the same setup which I have used for a year for
Indycar Racing with good results.  I have tried several different settings
on both machines, including sound blaster 8 and 16, mono and stereo, with
no luck.  I do get music over the closing credits, which I think comes
from the FM synthesizer setting for music (but no other music - I assume that
the same annoying music is also playing over the opening segment before
you turn it off)

I am truly baffled and frustrated.  It is just not possible, never mind
enjoyable, to drive without the feedback provided by engine and tire sound.
I would appreciate any insights.

Mayhew:
My NASCAR hasn't arrived yet (sob!!), but I had that same problem with
the NASDEMO.  I have a PAS and had to set it for IRQ 5 / DMA 3 to get
racing sounds.  There was another where I could get the voice at the
start, but nothing during the race.  That's no good, though and I can't
even remember what it was.  Anyway, 5/3 is NOT the correct setting for
my soundcard, but it IS the one that worked.  It might be that you'll
just have to experiment around....
Hope this was some help.

My Pro Audio 16 docs say Sound Blaster emulation is IRQ 5, and NASCAR works
with SB mono 8 bit if I choose 220-5-1.  I've tried all the SB and PAS
choices and none of them work except 8 bit mono.

I'm very dissatisfied with the sound card support.  Why would they have
8 bit but not 16 bit choices for PAS?
