Really not trying to be a smart a$$, but you might also try doing a Google
search for past info on this subject, as it has been discussed many, many
times.

It has, and Kevin himself has asked for help on this subject before. I
guess he's still looking for some better settings ;-)

tbh Kevin no one else's settings will be perfect for you, you just have
to try some settings for yourself & see what works best for you. Here's
some general advice to try:

There are three settings in the core.ini that you can tune to suit what
you are looking for. The most important one is the latency. This it the
time (in fractions of a second) that gpl sends the FF instructions to
your wheel before the event actually happens. It takes some time for the
signal to be processed by the CPU, be sent to your wheel & for the wheel
to react & you to feel it. gpl predicts what forces will be required and
sends them in advance so that they reach your fingers at the same time
as you see the event on screen.

This very small period of time is slightly different for every PC &
controller, but a good starting point is 0.02 (seconds). I use 0.016
secs on my Momo Force, When I (briefly) had an F1FF I used about 0.085
with the v10.0 software. Try it in gpl, if the forces feel like they are
arriving too soon or too late exit gpl, change the setting, save it & go
back into gpl to try it again & so on.

A good test of latency is to drive at about 50mph (3rd gear low revs)
down the Monza straight weaving from side to side. The forces should
line up with your wheel movements & help you to automatically keep the
car straight.

The higher the latency the more likely gpl's prediction will guess wrong
& spike, so keep it as low as you can. Some people use zero.

The other two settings are damping & max torque. Damping is simple, the
higher the number the 'stiffer' the wheel feels (I use 10 which is quite
light, go up to around 60-65 to suit your taste) and the max torque
determines the strength of the heaviest force. The higher the number the
lighter the 'normal' forces will be. I use 300 which is fairly light,
try going down to 150 or so for stronger forces.

hth, Malc.
