I found a copy of GPL at TJ Max (thanks for the info), and installed it
and the 1.2 and OpenGL(GeForce video card) patches last night.  I am
having one very annoying problem, the engine sound seems to go away
randomly.  I can hear the engine during practice, then it is gone for
the
race, or vice versa.  Any ideas???

What sound card are you using and do you have the latest drivers for it?
That was a problem for me with my old Ensonic PCI card.
