Radeon New Drivers - Sept 12th.

Wow, A few days ago I thought "hey, I should check for new video card
drivers". So I did, and there were a new set. So I snagged them! Awesome!
Well, I was bored and checked the ATI site just now, and noticed there is
another new set of drivers for Sept 12th!

It says they are optimized for XP Service Pack 1, which is cool since I just
installed XP SP1.

Anyways, just a heads up...

Always check out www.rage3d.com and similar sites to see if there are
any problems. If you have an All-In-Wonder series, with all the video
capture stuff, beware. Updating drivers is a giant PITA. You have to
download and install multiple drivers, and lots of rebooting. Ridiculous.

From hardocp:
Jonathan Snow mentioned earlier that the situation discussed earlier
yesterday was nothing new and came back with a thread to prove it. It does
not seem to be an ATi problem but possibly something going on with one of
those tweaker programs that does things beyond what the control panel
allows."

It _appears_ that there _may_ be a serious data loss issue with the latest
Catalyst drivers and NTFS volumes, so be sure you research this before
installing.

I know there is some info on this over at www.hardocp.com.

So it's not so much a driver issue as it is a tweaking issue.  Also not
limited to the newsest drivers, has been like that for some time.

I have been using this driver set and find it to be the best to date on my
8500.

Schooner, same here, I have been using the 2.3
Catalyst drivers since they where released with no
problems at all. 9700,XP, N2002, GPL all work just
wonderful!  :)
