NASCAR Pitting Problem

NASCAR Pitting Problem

In the book "NASCAR Racing Strategies and Secrets" the author mentions that
there is "a pretty precise spot" on which you have to stop your car and if
you overshoot it you have to back up and if you stop short you have to inch
up to that spot.  Is this correct?  I can't seem to do it.  If I don't stop
on the correct spot on the first try I have to back up a considerable
distance (almost back out to the pit entrance), and try again.   If I stop
short or overshoot I cannot pit despite the fact that I literally inch my
way back and forth in the pit area.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Another problem I have is with importing cars into the game.  I have no
trouble exporting a car into the c:\nascar directory (i.e. NASC94.PCX).  I
then remove that file from the c:\nascar directory, add the car file I want
(i.e CAMARO69.PCX), and change that file name to NASC94.PCX.  However, when
I import the new car the old one remains.  I am I doing something wrong?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

When Importing, don't forget to save the changes (the new car)!!!

You need to put your brakes on when you are in the PIT. You should be
able to see the PIT sign when you are in the pits. If you overshoot,
backup and put on the brakes. Works everytime for me.

The PIT bug that I would like fixed is the fact that you get the last
pit for every race. This is very anoying.

I'll second that.... the pit spot should be based on qualifying.

Ah yes, that would be nice.  But, if the game doesn't give you more
wheel lock when in the pit lane, you will NEVER get in our out a pit
with a car in front and behind you.  Have you ever watch the AI cars
enter their pit stall?  They turn all 4 wheels 90 degrees left and
"slide" into the stall.

Yeah, it is pretty "interesting" to note that the AI cars never have any
problems entering or exiting their pits, even at someplace like
Martinsville or Bristol.  Absolutely flawless pit stops every single
time....  they've even got the *real* Cup drivers beat.. :\

Well, I've been NAILED while sitting in my pit stall by Mark Martin
before...and his pit wasn't even the one right in front of me.  He was farther
down pit road.  Screwed up an excellent race, too. :(
I am NOT paranoid.  And why are you always watching me?!?

Has anybody else ever noticed that, according to the manual...  "Your pit
stall is randomly selected by the computer, prior to each race.  You may
be at the first stall one race, and the farthest stall the next.  ......
Make sure you learn during practice exactly where your pit crew is
situated."

Yeah... right.... randomly selected....

In Nascar and Indy Car you will always be in the first pit stall when you
enter pit road.  don't know why but you will.
