Sorry to bear the bad news, but I just saw this reply post from an employee
on the Sierra Motorsports forum:

As I suspected.

There's a good reason NOT to use the GPL engine for a while yet.

I don't think it's bad news.  N3 does just fine IMHO.

If they didn't use the GPL engine (let it rest guys) in N3, then they sure
aren't going to use it in Nascar Legends.

I look forward to it myself.
