F12001 ALMS & GT Mods Won't Run!

Thanks for that tip.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work.  Even after copying
that line over to the respective config files, Starting the Mod brings me to
the 3D Video Screen again.  When I work my way through it, it loads F1 2001,
not the Mod.

   I am at the exact same place but for a different reasone   I updated
drivers to the OMEGA driver set.  I figured all I'd have to do is double
check and copy the vidguide line in the config.ini...just haven't gotten
around to it yet.

Whenever you change the vid-card (or just the drivers) and fire up F1 2001
it reads a parameter from the vid-card driver and compares it to the
parameter you have in the relevant ini file. If its different it then starts
the 3D Video and (this is the important part) it updates the config.ini
file, regardless of the Mod you are running. It does not update the ini file
you gave it and it does not use it to start the game after the 3D config is
done.

To solve it: go to the config.ini file and copy the lines to the other ini
files (FIAGT3 and all other Mods you may be using). The relevant lines are
all that relate to video cards:

CPURATING=4
SYSTEMRAM=256
VIDEORAM=150
OBJDETAIL=3
TEXDETAIL=3
VIDEOGUID=D7B71E3E-4111-11CF-8E78-22A000C2C935
GAME_DATABASE=GAME.GDB
VIDEODRIVER=0
VIDEOMODE=5
WINDOWEDMODE=0
PRIMARYONLY=0
FSAA=0
VSYNC=0

(an example from my files)

Have fun,

Joao Gonzalez

Copy every line from "CPU rating" to the bottom of the file (Config.ini) and
overwrite the same line in the CONFIGFIAGTV3.ini etc.....Do this only after
running the F1config.exe though...

Thanks to all for your responses -- especially to Damien and Joao who hit
the nail on the head!  Both mods are again working now.  Great Stuff!

Thanks again!

    well I finally got around to it....there was only 4 #'s different
between the f1 config and fia config...once I copied the f1 to the FIA it
worked just fine.
  So as Damien says...\
Run the 3d config for F1 first
Then copy at least the vidguide line from f1 to fia..should work fine.

ps...the OMEGA drivers really REALLY bring out a lot of subtleties I hadn't
seen before in the FIA cars...I don't know if he has upped the lod or what,
but the difference from 28.32 to Omega's latest is quite visible.

Have you tried copying ALL the video config lines from your CONGFIG.INI  to
your CONFIGFIAGTV3.INI?

In CONGFIG.INI  copy the lines from the line CPURATING=... down to (and
including) VSYNC=... and paste over the same lines in CONFIGFIAGTV3.INI. You
have to do this with each INI for each MOD you are running each time you
upgrade your video drivers or video card.

As in Haqsau's post, the "VIDEOGUID=" is the really important line because
it identifies your card and drivers with a unique ID, but maybe there is
something in the other lines that is causing the problem.

Good luck.

"Krunch" \

      I think the key is to run it for F1 first THEN do the copying for FIA.
I NEVER run F1 so when I first changed the vid drivers, all I did was re-run
the FIA config and got the same problem of it CTD and always comming up,
even when I copied over the F1 numbers because those didn't match the new
drivers.
     So once you do change video cards, or driver updates always re-do the
F1 3d config first.  Even if, like me, you don't run the F1 cars anymore.
