Help Please With ALMS GT Mod for F1_2001

by elrik » Sat, 06 Apr 2002 02:26:48

F1_2001 works fine and the FIA GT mod works fine as well.

Installed the ALMS GT Mod but it is using the F1 cars.  Another symptom that
thing are not as they should be is that every time it's run it it analyses
my video card again.

I installed as directed and ran the config program.  The cars are there in
the Vehicles dir within the ALMS2001GTSeason dir and the ALMS2001GT.ini file
seems ok.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried copying the video settings from the f12001 config file into
the ALMS config file? That usually sorts it out.

Did you edit the new shortcut target path ?  ie    "C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\F1
2001\f12001.exe" config=ALMS2001GT.ini

Thanks for your reply.

Could you be more specific ?  Which config file(s) ?
There are a lot of .ini and .gen files.

The game does know it's in the ALMS GT Mod because it asks for a new user
name etc, and the game does run but still uses the F1 cars ?

The ALMS GT cars are in their vehicles dir and each car seem to have its own
.gen file.

Maybe a reinstall ?

This has happened to me several times. I backed up the ALMS2001GT.ini file,
copied & renamed the F12001 ini to ALMS2001GT.ini, and manually made the
changes that were in my backup file to the new file.  Annoying bug!

Tried the manual copy and edit thing,  same results.  Game doesn't use the
GT cars.

Thanks anyway.

This is beginning to aggravate me :O) just a bit, as everything seems right
in the ini file and the cars are there.  Maybe the game just isn't getting
the info on which  ini to use, but I think that the shortcut is setup
properly.

All is well now. ALMS GT Mod working fine.

To those who offered help (and any other interested parties) here is my
particular fix to my problem.

In the instructions they put quotation marks (") around the command line
parameter "config=ALMS2001GT.ini"  so that's what I did.  I removed the
quotes and bingo, all is well.

Thanks again.

LOL... the word "Doh!" springs to mind.  :o)

I've done that myself in the past though.

Just run the ALMS installer and tell it to make a new configure file which
is one of the options.
Should work then

Wierd Windows thing I guess. Take the new shortcut that was created in
your F12001 directory. Right click and drag to the desktop. When it
asks you want you want to do, choose "create shortcut here". Then use
the new one to launch the program. Worked for me at least. F*&#^ing
Windows. No rhyme or reason to a lot of things.
