How do you remove the restrictor plates in N3?
Are they sealed and do I nead a drill? ;-)

In the track text file look for the line that starts SPDWY, this is followed
by either a zero for non-restrictor, or 1 for restrictor (I think thats the
way around). Change these values. The other two numbers on the line are the
pit stop window for the AI.

Um, I'm pretty sure you don't need a drill ;)

According to Jeff in this newsgroup, you only need to change the value
from 1 to 0 on the line SPDWY in the file taladega.txt in the
tracks/taladega folder.

I have not tried it myself (I don't even know what a restrictor plate
is :)  )

Good luck!

yeah changing the restrictor plate helps, change from 1 to 0,  I'm not
too great at Nascar99, my best lap time was a 198 mph avg... now I got a
214 mph avg lap speed without the ristrictor plate... beat Elliot's 212
.. of course cars are slightly better in 1998-99 than 1987..
in Nascar 1, I got a few 221-222 mph avg lap speeds when I removed the
restrictor plate..
In Nascar Legends, all the tracks have a 0, but Taladega has a 1... I
tried to remove it just for the heck of it, and it slowd my car down 1
mph or so... weird!!! I changed it back... getting a qual lap of 201
something is about all I can get in NL .. not bad for a real car (todays
cars are manufactured off road race cars, tubeular frames and such)
thats 3800 lbs.

yep, i did a 200 mph lap before and I'm into 216's now. It makes tally a lot
fun as it becomes harder to keep the car on the groove. And it's not only
the player that goes faster but the AI speeds up too!
I had a topspeed of 226!
