N3 Restrictor Plates

Does NASCAR 3 not enforce restrictor plates in testing sessions at
Talledega? I took a setup here and was running laps averaging 215 mph, with
my speed never falling below 210 mph. And this was while only churning out
about 8000 rpms in 4th gear. Before I could even fully get on the track from
pit road, my 3rd gear was overrevving. I then took this same setup to a race
and ran a practice session. I could run the whole track in 3rd gear without
it overrevving and even in 4th gear it was a struggle to hit 200 mph. What
gives with this?

Sounds like you were testing in arcade mode.

You are either running in arcade mode or were online in a "no-plate" dega
and didn't  know it.

I'd sure like to get your setup for that :)  So far the best I've
squeezed out of it is 202 and that was just before the end of the
long straight. But then I'm still a rookie :)

BINGO!!!  That's exactly what it was now that you mention it! I'm so
stupid. I had turned on arcade mode so that my 5 year old son, who is
absolutely obsessed with automobiles, could run the tracks a little
easier. And I never bothered to turn it back off. Drat. All that time and
laps I wasted trying to get a setup and I got absolutely nowhere! BTW,
you should see my youngest when he drives. He's actually not bad for a 5
year old! He's pretty good at getting around the track but he's a little
confused about the the names. He told me he prefers "Lowe's Night",
thinking that was the name of the track.

It's not a bug, the restrictor plate is supposed to be removed in
Arcade mode at Talladega.

A setup alone can't make this happen.

You have to make a change to the track.txt file for Dega and set Speedway=0
to get no-plate racing.

This is getting to be quite common online.

Oh, drop your RR shock to about 10 percent to make it around the corners
well :)

Really?

Simply testing in Arcade mode disables the plate?

Wow.  I'd have to classify that as a bug!
