Yes, but the force feedback is a little disappointing while playing
with the keys...

It is playable. You just have to set the sensitivity to the min.
Try to race in manual transmission mode if you want to finish a rally. In
the automatic mode it will press the clutch pedal in every low turns : you
will oversteer or lose traction, your clutch and gearbox will fail faster and
if you lose a gear you will lose a lot of time whereas you can just use the
other gears in the manual mode.

Absolutely right! I tried my first complete rally using the automatic
transmission. But during the 3rd stage a lost gears 1 and 2. I had to drive
for about 5 minutes with a gearbox CONSTANTLY changing from 0 to 3 (and I
mean constantly, as if the game couldn't make up his mind!), losing LOTS of
time. VERY irritating! After that I immediately changed to manual
transmission. I found out you can REALLY handle the car a lot better on
manual! It takes a short while to get used to (specially since I always
played CMR on auto), but after that you can 'use' it for all kinds of
things: changing up or down (or staying in too high a gear on purpose) in
certain corners and situations, can give you better grip, better slides,
avoid crashes etc. etc. My times improved and my crashes decreased a lot.
Manual is definitely the way to go!
The only pity is (in my case) that my Thrustmaster GrandPrix 1 only has two
buttons on the wheel: so now I can't use the handbrake anymore (not without
making change moves, hences losing control and crashing)... Anyone knows if
the Thrustmaster Formula Sprint is any good? It's quit cheap, so...
