K6-3/450 or Celeron 500

From recent experience with both CPU's I think I'd choose the Celeron.  Not
because I don't like AMD's cause I've had them in my own systems for the
past couple of years, switching and swapping.  I think that some game titles
like the Intel CPU/Chipset better.  Nascar II is a perfect example.  I'd
also say though that the AMD 450 will well outperform the Intel 500 just
because of the bus speed.  If you go AMD, get a GOOD BRAND NAME motherboard.
Not a piece of ***for $60.  Abit, Soyo, Asus, Microstar,...

Going against my own advice,  next week my P-III-550 (less than a week old)
goes south in leu of an Athalon 600 or 650 (Depending on stock).

You certainly have the right video card.  I put 4 in new systems this week
and they are killers.  I'd say that's going to make more difference than the
CPU.

K6-3/450 or Celeron 500

Just got a new rig. It is:
K6-3 450
Iwill 100XA+
128meg PC100 ram
VooDoo3-3000 agp
SB AWE 64

My 36 FPS settings are:
1024x768
All forward textures
All special effects
Bias at 50%
Just car and track textures in mirrors
6 sounds

Overall Enjoyment:
100%
I had never understood the physics of the game like I do now.
Never tried a Celeron though. So take this at face value.

PS I am having some disk access problems between the Iwill and Win98. I have
two instances of Win 98 on my machine. One has slow disk access but runs
fine otherwise. The other runs fine in all ways. I still haven't figured it
out.
