IMHO - this is a good thing
I do have to say at this point
I DO NOT condone piracy. Piracy is theft of software with no intention
of purchase but an intention to keep using said software. More so
piracy is an issue in terms of couterfeit cd and similar which are quite
common around computer swap meets and available on the "black market"
I don't see home users trying software as being a major "loss factor" for
the corps. As for flashpoint : if I'd have gone by word of mouth or the
ads/box, then I would have picked it as another delta force and ignored
it.
As said in my earlier post - if I like a game, it does get bought. Sheesh -
I have papy *everything* almost, f1* whatever - I give good money to
these companies. If I think a downloaded game sucks I'll delete it. - the
same way if you think a game sucks that you buy, you delete it. The
difference is, I haven't been sold a well designed cardboard box for more
than 50 bucks which dazzled my eyes but contained utter garbage. I have
simply spent a couple of hours shopping for what I want. Best of all,
when I go to the local EB or wherever - I often discover the game I
fell in love with while sitting at home is in a plain boring cover which
just
screams "ignore me". Lucky...

The F1 2001 CD check takes a hell of a lot longer than that. First it
displays a banner adverti***t for the company that designed the
"anti-theft" software. (I guess so I'll know who to bring my first home made
bomb to?) It spins an "I'm working for your benefit and pleasure, Dave"
graphic for about 15 seconds.
Second, it pisses me right off. I paid money for that game. I worked in
freezing weather, hauling a 250 pound 13 year old girl up an down 120
vertical feet of bunny slope for four hours straight to pay for it and my
gas and lunch, sprained my wrist when she landed on me and you're calling me
a thief?
Every time I see that thing, and add it to not having a brake pedal and not
being able to run graphics that are obviously short of SBK quality at SBK
frame rates, I wanna make copies for all my friends just as a matter of
principle. I have $10,000 software with no CD check... something aint right
with your thinking.
I won't be back for another EA title.

One or two seconds?? Don't bullshit me you lieing POS. It's more like 20-30
seconds.
