You have to add an entry for the track in the game.gdb file.  There is
a game.gdb, that you can download from one of the forums that has all
the add on tracks in it.  I think I saw it on High Gear's EA F1 & Mod
forum.

   The game.gdb file is like a calendar for the various mods.  If you do a
search, you will find one inside the season folder for each mod you have
installed.  If the track you are driving is NOT in the game.gdb properly,
then the game defaults to a 5 lap race. (don't ask me why---I dunna know)
   There are tons of game.gdbs out there, usually the sites that have new
tracks like Tantra's have a game.gdb available for dload.  You may still
have to cut and paste, or if it's thourough enough, you can just overwrite
the old file.  Searching the F1 2k2 sites will probably turn up a half dozen
different game.gdb's.

The game.gdb that comes with GTR2002 should have all the tracks in it,
unless he's trying this with one that came out in the past week or so.

Wrong-o!  The game.gdb file I d/l'ed from the site below was only for all
the new tracks that have been released for F1 2002, not specifically for
GTR2002, and is thus chock-full of drivers that have never even *sat* in a
FIA GT car (like Jenson Button).

So I repeat my question: does anybody have a specific URL for a game.gdb
file that covers the new tracks and which also includes the GTR2002 roster
of chauffeurs?

Do I have to do everything myself?!?

TIA.

   The drivers don't matter.  (I think)  If you run at a track that has
qualifying lists and all those F1 names, it "should" get overwritten the
first time you let the GTR boys free to qualify and race.  (but I'm not 100%
sure of that)
   Bascially take that Big new f1 game.gdb file and cut and past all the GTR
tracks from the GTR game.gdb file and you should, be, in theory, ready to
go.

Okay, Mr. Smarty Pants,

What text do you insert for the tracks?

The extant game.gdb entries look like this:

France

 RaceLaps = 69
Attrition = 23
TrackName = Magny Cours, SRW Round 1: France
EventName = 2002 FRENCH SUPER RACING WEEKEND
GrandPrixName = Magny Cours
LOCATION = Magny Cours, France
FIRST GRAND PRIX = 2000
CIRCUIT LENGTH = 2.641 m./4.250 km.

RaceLaps I can figure (200 for IndyOval, etc.), but what the heck is
"Attrition"?  Is that the number of DNFs from the last race?

I can make up most of the rest, but I'm not so sure abt. where to find
CIRCUIT LENGTHs.

You'd think the track designers would add this dope in a little text file
that accompanied the d/l, but noooooooooooo..........

P.S. I'm enjoing laps of Sebring.  Really does feel like the spawn of SCGT,
dunnit?

GTR: Race Length?

Still no joy.  I copied all the relevant info into the game.gdb file (like
the number of laps; I started this thread looking for a way to change the
default number of laps--5--to something more interesting; who woulda thinkit
should be so complicated?), but the only thing that happened was the Q
speeds for the AI cars went all wonky (I didn't have the actual times of any
previous sessions or races).

Fortunately, I saved my old game.gdb file, so I may be limited to 5 laps,
but at least the opposition isn't moving at horse n buggy speeds.

What am I missing?

Thx, KK; I am deeply in yer debt.  Now, let's see if this thing WORKS!

BTW, is anybody else having problems with F1/GTR (don't know which is doing
it) messing with their settings?  I get really cranky when someONE or
someTHING turns "Pit Assistance" back on...or whatever.

And is it just me, or does Launch Control not work on the F360?  Can't get
the revs up...or so my girlfriend tells me.  (Works fine on the 996 GT3.)

<snippage>

I have had wonky setings changes happening to me thru every version I've
tried, from the F1 2002 demo, to F1 2002, thru the GTR mod, I can make some
minor change somewhere, and eventually see something else changed that I
didn't do.....the helps, or FF setting, I never know what I'll find, but
since I have it pretty much setup the way I want now, it doesn't happen as
often, but ya, at times this thing seems to have a mind of it's own.
