Logitech wheel?

Before I buy this wheel, do you get use to the pedals with GPL?  I don't
have any other pedals to use so thetas not an option.  I am trying to decide
between this wheel and the ACT Labs wheel.  Seems that the ACT pedals stick
a little (not to mention their shifter paddles being to small, whoops just
mentioned it) and makes it tough to feather the throttle.  I understand the
travel on the Logitech wheels is rather small and it poses some difficulties
of its own.  I just want to know if, after some practice, you get use to the
pedals and dont spin the tires or lock the brakes all the time.  I also
noticed that BUY.com is selling the wheel for $112.00 plus $17 for shipping.
Anyone had any bad experience's with them.  Saving $50 is attractive.
Thanks for any info.

The pedals are not THAT bad.  The best thing you can do for them is open the
base, remove the springs, take them to a hardware store near you and buy some
stiffer ones(they're simple coil springs, and you can cut new ones to fit).
That'll help tons.  That should make 'em liveable, but down the road you can
buy some CH's to use with the wheel if you choose.  They're cheap, durable,
VERY accurate and easy to mount on a base, if you want.  Short of ECCI's or
TSW's, most all wheels have less than wonderful pedals as shipped.

Cheers,

Steve B.

Yeah, at first I jumped on the "LWFF Pedals suck!" bandwagon, but after
replacing the springs they became tolerable. I used them for 6 months that
way until switching to my CH pedals recently. Yes, the pedals are ok for
GPL, not the best, but useable.

Bought the logitech from BUY.COM.  UPS ground arrived OVERNIGHT!  Not bad,
eh?  Great wheel, mediocre pedals.  I use my TSW2 pedals instead for GPL.
Pedals are actually ok for Viper or SCGT.  I'm sure stiffer springs would
help, however, short throw of brake pedal will never be right for me in GPL.
I highly recommend the wheel and BUY.COM.  I tested it against MSFF and LWFF
won easily.

The settings for the LWFF pedals can be tweaked in the Profiler software which
helps out a tremendous amount.  Also stiffer springs, which I havent done,
sounds good too...

Logitech wheel?

>Bought the logitech from BUY.COM.  UPS ground arrived OVERNIGHT!  Not bad,

buy.com has warehouses around the country.  If the closest warehouse has
your item in stock, shipping can be very quick.  If it's only in stock
on the other coast, it can take over a week.  I've had two items from the
same order arrive over a week apart.

I got my LWFF from provantage.  $103 plus around $20 shipping.  Took 2
days UPS ground, Ohio to ***ia.

Good things about the LWFF pedals:
The base stays put.
Easy single/dual axis flipping.
They stay calibrated.

Bad things about the LWFF pedals:
Short throw.
Weak springs.
Top of brake pedal is a bit high relative to the base, which means that
your left foot rests at an unnatural angle, which is tiring.

I haven't replaced the springs yet.  Maybe tonight.  Even stock, the
pedals are okay.  I haven't been tempted to switch back to my T2
pedals, anyway.

This is true about the break pedal being higher, but if you brake with your
right foot (which I do), it feels natural.

Yes with practice they are not a problem. Just drive in sock or bare
feet. And the wheel itself is a thing of beauty.

I agree too.  I always have driven without shoes, and the Logitech pedals
seem quite ok to me after a bit of use.

Thanks fellas, Logitech it is.  I'll place the order in the morning.  Now
I'm off to find the provantage website since I'm in Michigan.
