Monster 3D 2 lockups GPL

Please help,  About a month ago my system started freezing in gpl.
the screen freezes dead still while the engine sound varies like I am
reving engine slightly no matter what I do the the pedal.  Less than a
second later it goes back to normal but everyone else has left me
because I sat still so long.

My system
AMD K6-2 450
128 MRAM
v550 video card
Monster Voodoo 2 card-800x600 85HZ-3dfx reference drivers
creative SB Live Value

I have tried
complete reformat and install
different voodoo card
fan blowing on card
newest diamond drivers-which caused all kind of problems
moving other cards away from voodoo card
