I would also imagine that individual members of the teams have
performance clauses in their contracts. Engine builders get XX ammount
more Lira if the team score XX ammount of points...same for designers,
enineers, even team managers. Alot of a squad's payroll might be
determined by the performance of the drivers..
Also you have to ask how much exposure Marlboro and Vodafone and Shell
are expecting for their sponsorship. How many advertising managers in
those companies have their very careers tied to how often the Red Cars get
TV exposure? The scope of a modern F1 racing team is vast.
