The game will automatically detect if you have a joystick plugged in.
Just make sure it is centered before you start the game.
Once in the game, you can press CTRL-J if your joystick is out of
calibration. Just make sure that it is centered before you press CTRL-J.
BTW, there is a program called Neverlock that will alter the game so you
don't have to type in the password. All you'll need to do is press enter
when it asks for the password. I got mine from a local BBS, but I'm sure
there's one on the net somoewhere.
Centre the joystick and then press either <shift> and J or <CTRL> and
J
The writer meant "Indianapolis 500 - The Simulation" NOT IndyCar
Racing. To calibrate the joystick in Indy 500, press <CTRL> and J.

Yes, quite right. I saw the words "Indy" and "sim" in his post and
didn't think. I'm famous for that :-) We straightened out his
question by mail. In doing so, I reloaded Indy 500 and could not
believe just how far racing sims have come since then. Kinda like
comparing Indy 500 to Pole Position on my prehistoric C64!

I think that Indy 500 is much better, in terms of AI, than IndyCar
racing. You always knew where the car in front of you was going to be.
The computer cars raced just like in real life and overall, I think
IndyCar's AI is terrible. If you don't believe me, then load in the
game and do a 60-lap race....
Won't disagree. But actually I was thinking of F1GP, not ICR, in my
reference to how far sim quality has come. ICR may look better, but
the overall driving experience in F1GP is tops. And yes, that's only
my opinion, so let's not get a war going. :-)
