N1: Hawaii help...! PLEASE...!

Last night, I tried Hawaii AGAIN.  I got into the track
(Martinsville), and as soon as I appeared on pit road for practice, my
car took off - backwards.  My T2 wheel and pedals had no response.  The
car just backed onto the track and into the turn 4 wall.  I couldn't do
anything.
I was told previously that I could hit "ctl-j" and calibrate my wheel
while in Hawaii.  I tried that, but I got a message saying "illegal
control command" or something to that effect.  Do I have to hit CTL-J
BEFORE I get into the track?  I'm  getting tired of having to re-install
NASCAR 1 every time I try to race on Hawaii.  It's the only way it'll
work again.

First, not ctrl-j....just J......Also if you are playing in win95, try
playing on kalidos..you will have less probs with your wheel.
And you should be able to run the game while NOT on line and calibrate
all you want.....you should'nt have to reinstall.

Yes, you have to calibrate before you get onto the track. Hit Ctrl-J from
the menu when you enter the race. I'm don't understand why you have to
recalibrate every time, no one I know has that problem. Are you running
from inside Win'95?
