3 Axes with Sidewinder FF for GPL????

by Tim Wainwrigh » Sat, 17 Apr 1999 04:00:00

Hi there.
I have a Sidewinder FF Wheel and would love to use it as a three axis unit
for GPL.  IOW separate Brake, Throttle and Steering inputs.  Can this be
done without modifying the unit or do I need to get the tools out to make
the mods.  Any help would be appreciated.  Also heard something about a
sqaush/racketball ball under tehe pedals to give them better feel.  Any
pointers on that one?  Anything to get some better lap times!

Thanks in advance

The Sidewinder profiler software that comes with the wheel will allow this.
You need to create a profile for GPL (File/New Profile). You can record
keystroke mappings to buttons on the first page of the profile options.
There is also a second tab on the profile sheet that is marked "settings".
Flip to this tab and select "Separate" for the x-axis (it may be "y", but
you get the picture...<G>

With this setting turned on, you have one axis for steering, one for gas,
and a third for braking. I hope this helps.

Does anyone out there have a profile set up that they would be willing to post
or e-mail to me?
