Dave Noonan?

This guys seems to arrive on the Sim Racing scene, give us something totally
amazing and then dissapear as often as a Ubisoft patch (though on an infinately
higher level!) Each time he delivers something even better than the last time.
Brands Hatch was amazing; but will he tell us how he did it? Will there be a
track editor, will I be able to race Rio or Houston in ICR2?

Who is Dave Noonan? I'm beginning to think it's a pseudonym for someone
working at Papyrus.

Mr. Noonan is a genius with the Papyrus/Sierra game files who has made most all
track converters you can think of and has created two totally new tracks for
GPL to date.  However, he does seem to vanish like a ghost a lot..

Rob;
Think about what you wrote below & then think about all the
flames when anyone announces a new patch or fix that will be
coming out in 00/00/00-time.
Don't you think it is better to have a finished product sprung
on us?? Dave is probably very busy & he does all this in his
spare time.
Cost to you Free or a small fee for a full converter!! So do
you wonder why Dave is here one day and not for the next
several months? Can we say "Smart Man"??
Just MHO... Cheers Thom_j.

I can tell you that Dave is REAL, that he is not a Papy employee and that
he is VERY busy.  He has his reasons for remaining quiet and the dreaded
"missed deadline" is certainly one of them, but everyone should know that
Dave always seems to be working on something new.  Rest assured that he is
still with us...out there.....somewhere. :;)

He is a genius until you look at how he butchers files in conversions, his GPL
files are very reminiscent of N2 files, he basically tricks the sims, whats  so
genius about that? After looking at some of his files im sure he could make a horse
think it was a cow. I hope there is someone out there who is learning to make these
files properly, like papyrus does it. To illustrate my point, can you convert a N2
track to ICR2  back and forth a few times?? NO, you cant, because the code becomes
so messy that nothing can make sense of it. While its nice that these things work,
it'd be a whole lot nicer if they stuck to Papyrus' file formats. So if you want to
call him anything call him a magician, not a genius.

Thanks to Noonan we're all able to drive the Brands Hatch track.
I don't care HOW he did it, or in what file format or whatever, he's
the only one who DID IT.

So as long as you have meant nothing to the GPL community, I don't
think you should critisize Noonan in any way.

To punish you for unfairly critisizing Noonan's great work, I have to
punish you: Go to www.grandprix3.org, and don't come back here untill
you say you're sorry!

is...what, exactly?

Hey Erik,

Ever since I've gotten into the GP2 editing scene, I've never had so
many complaints about various silly details. And I'm not even talking
about people nicking yer work, or using it without being so kind to let
it know, etc.

Well, I really do hope you guys don't get distracted by these humanoids,
cause no body can beat yer work. Not even papy ;)

Anywayz a 'really good flame' is still something else than pointing at
mistakes someone made during that crazy little thing called 'a learning
process'. To them I'd like to say:  F*CK *FF

I always wanted to say that....and I still remember your names -- so
watch out when GP3 arrives !!! ;)

So, better late than never: There's been only one Pits, there is only
one Pits, and there will be only one Pits.

Thanks for the efforts and great results!

Bart

I think he used the N2 Brands Hatch creation, converted it to GPL then
tweaked it a little.

As for who he is, don't know, there is no contact information at the pits,
but there's people out and about who 'know' him.

Shit, and I left my cleaver at home!

So... you saying your a cow? oh sorry that was dave's work, your really a
horse, make sure you dont get confused, I often get confused myself,
sometimes I think that people like you actually have a point! ... naaa.

We're you born in a shoebox? The world isn't perfect, but it still sustains
life, okay so there's a lot of extra 3DO's in there, the problem with that
is?? Does it slow loadtime on a system which can run GPL in the first
place?? Do I give a flying ***?

Answers: No, no, and no.

a > few times?? NO, you cant, because the code becomes

So.... in English you are saying that you can convert them back and forth,
but... you can't? Um.... o ... k ... And just to***you off I have tried
it, I converted Laguna to N2 and back five times, no problem here... You
sure your speaking words or just have a brown smelly substance coming out of
your mouth?

Yes it is really isn't it, let me ask.... do you have Brands installed?
surely someone who can obviously do a better job would of done it himself?
No? Well Shit, i'm so dissapointed in you.

Just had a look at Brands, all Papy file formats where I look, you got your
sunglasses on again? Get those prescription lenses in.

Tim,

What Brands Hatch N2 track are you referring to?

And as for David Noonan having no contact information. I'm not so sure
he is even a real person. When I ordered the full converter from The Pits,I
sent my personal check to Jan Kohl. You never see any posts from him,or hear
anything about him other his programing.
