Love that GPL but am looking forward to N2'99. My old P166/V1000/80meg
just can't handle the new sims, so I am glad Sierra decided to toss
N2'99 out there to breathe a little life into my aging sim.

Yup & yup,
So You mean that if I were an old "foreigner" [said with the utmost respect,
not knowing how else to phrase it :-)], I could afford a new computer?? Just
my .02 cents (U.S. that is) ;-). Is your country accepting new citizen
applications?? Heck, I'll be 31 by the time it's approved ;-).

Hi Wade,

I didn't mean to insult anyone, really !
The only thing I can't understand was the way J. Huggins talked about Grand Prix
Legends.
"" Love that GPL but am looking forward to N2'99. ""

Sometimes it seems that some people from the USA underestimate the (historic)
value of Formula One Racing.
Maybe just like the way Europeans don't seem to understand Nascar :-)

cheers,

Bart

Oh boy...you've set me off. <g>  I live in Indianapolis, IN.  Oval racing
central.  I'm in love with F1 new and old.  It's better than the IRL.  I'd
rather watch and F1 race than a NASCAR race.  Though I will watch NASCAR, I
like F1 better...but that's me.

I am from Indy also, Indy 500 and Brickyard 400.
Haven't been to an IRL Indy 500 tho'.
I love F1 (Go Shumacher) but like NASCAR even more.
The reason, I can go to a NASCAR race almost once every week.
While I am there I can see most of the track and not miss any action (on the
shorter tracks).
I would love to attend an F1 race but since it is all road courses, I don't
think that you get to see as much of the real action (same with the CART
races).
Another reason we Americans don't follow F1, we don't have a race anymore. I
have heard that Tony George is trying to get an F1 race to come to Indy (How
could he build a road course at Indy?) and I would love to see one in person
but the chances are pretty slim.
So I guess the point is, while an F1 sim is highly regarded world-wide,
NASCAR is always going to be more popular in the US.

About a month ago, I was at "The Glen". It was a week before the NASCAR
race.
The SCCA team I am a crew chief for was honored to be at the first road
racing track in the US. I saw many of the Grand Prix races of the 70's at
that track.
History takes many forms, and if it weren't for NASCAR, "The Glen" would
also be history. NASCAR owns this track now, and their money is what keeps
it in business. I prefer road racing, but I also admit, racing is racing. I
enjoy any
form of racing, and, like the rest of us, I am looking forward to GPL.
Lets all look forward to racing this new sim, and enjoy the international
competition that it came from.....

Hi,

I didn't mean Nascar hasn't any history, I just misread his post, and I guess
you misread mine :-)
So, I'm sorry!

I thought his header was meant ironically: 99% of Ras is waiting for gpl and he
says something like gpl is 'just' another game.....
But -as I allready said- I misread it......

but in my very humble opinion I think that from a historic standpoint gpl as a
season  will be more interesting then this nascar season! I guess you jst have
your favorite season?? :-)

cheers,

Bart

So would I, if the F1 boys ever had a _race_. You know, with
this thing called passing.   Until they do (can you say "rules
change"?), I'll stick with NASCAR.

Hi,

I guess you are the only one that seems to understand me :-)
Cause everybody thinks I said "Americasn don't lime F1" or something.
But  what I really  meant was that in the US maybe less % of people will buy a
F1 sim.

cheers,

The fans pay a high enough price for these events.

I agree, F1 tends to be a 2 hour parade most of the time.  However,
these past two races, I've seen Schumie make incredible moves to take
the lead, which for me makes up for the lack of overtaking the rest of
the race.  Now if only the rest of the drivers would put it on the
line a little more, there would be some very entertaining races going
on in F1.

Perhaps if our European friends don't post a reply, an answer might be
found on http://www.forix.com/   =)

Cheers!

I thought Jacques Villeneuve was U.S ex-CART? Of course I'm probably wrong
(I'm a real big Villeneuve fan, honestly :))

Steve - Getting e***d about GPL despite the fact that it hasn't even been
released in the US yet, and UK is supposedly going to be released at least a
couple of weeks later :)

p.s. any UK people out there, my local Electronics Boutique (Leeds) still
says end of this month for UK release, though they don't have an exact date.
