I have a new copy of MGPRS2, it is already upgraded to 1.6.  Sometimes while
driving, the sound is dramatically reduced during the same spot on the track
each lap.  Is there a fix for this?

Really, where, for instance? I haven't noticed it. Although going over the
bump to Mirabeau does sound kind of funny with surround speakers.

I am assuming you have a PCI128 or PCI64 soundcard with the absolutely
GARBAGE Ensoniq chipset. This anomolie is not only present in MGPRS2 , I
have found NUMEROUS troubles with this card(s) in other games/applications.

Short-term solution: Turn down hardware acceleration down a notch in
Multimedia Properties. That should solve it in RS2 and other apps.

Long-Term solution: Relegate your PCI series card to a paper weight (all
it's really good for anyways... works well as one too, I use it as such),
and get yourself either a SBLive, or an A3D card (prefered).

Cheers,

Shumi

Agreed. I have an SB Live and get the same problem in T1 in Brazil. The
sound disappears until I get through T2.

Shumi;
While I respect your work on the web, etc., I have to strongly
disagree with you here.
I have the same card, with the same problems in this game.  And, in
the two years I have had it, RS2 is the ONLY game I have had any
problems with it.  Name the racing sim, and many other games for that
matter, no problem.

it's not the card.  For that matter, Ubi supposedly has problems with
Creative/SB products.  Having a problem with one of the largest sound
card makers in the business speaks of code problems.

Yep, the good ole' Soundblaster Ensoniq PCI soundcard.  Thanks for the tip,
I'll try it.
