f1-2002 replays.... Terrible?

I've been playing F1-2002 and whenever i watch a replay, it seems terribly
unrealistic. The car's physics during a crash are floaty, and it seems as if
the cars just slide around the track with little weight or connection with
the terrain in any realistic manner.

I have my replay set to full.. but.. if my memory is correct, GPL had
incredible replays in comparison to f1-2002.

I love the driving experience in f1-2002, its just everything outside the
car in replay mode is rather poor i think.

The camera angles are terrible.

I still like the game quite a bit though.

 F12k2 replays suck.  Fact.

Strangely - if you have a really bad online race (i.e. floaty jumpy cars
everywhere, worlds worst lag etc) - the replays seem to smooth it out to
look better !

Thats because they are calculated on the fly, rather than "recorded", which
is why you get inconsistincies.

I know that - what I'm saying is that it's ironic that a bad replay system
makes a bad multiplayer system look a little better

(snip)
It's odd how folk's taste differs on something like camera
angles...(which I believe are somewhat moveable in f1 2002.)  But with 2001,
a-lot of the replay shots are very low...you are almost looking UP at the
car and I find those shots terrific.  Probably because most other sims offer
replay angles that are high 3/4 variety, the uniqueness of the low and close
angle shots appeals to me.
Now that Papyrus has shown the way again with their Replay Theatre, it
would be great to see ISI figure out something similar.

Ditto on following Papy's lead.  All any company has to do is at least match
the functionality of their replays and they're beyond real complaint.  One
thing that annoys me in particular about most companies' replays is the
inability to simply move forward/back among the drivers' cars using
*current* track position, not last lap or start position or whatever.
That's crucial to watching passes/incidents from all parties' perspectives.

Plus, what's up with no AI in-car views in F12002 replays?  Gotta concur
with Doug...

even on high fidelity full mode, you still cant see what the hells going on,
like the cars being drven by AI...can even watch a replay to see where your
losing time as its missing information like everything and still the replays
are huge and flabby
yet contain a fraction of actual mechanical information GPLs does....

The car's position doesn't seem to be calculated frequently enough during
replays.  The cars seem to 'float' around the track.  I'm glad that they've
got full speed, full screen replays in 2002 though.  The in game replays
when you press 'R' seem a bit better than the saved replays too..
