Here's a way to get rid of the evil boot disk forever. Why Microsoft
didn't document this, I don't know. Anyway, from Win95, click
start/find/files. Search for a file called "exit to dos.pif" (note the
quotation marks and spaces in the filename, very important). When it
finds the file, right-click your mouse on it and choose properties.
Next, click on program/advanced button, and choose to specify new
configuration settings. Enter your pertinent config.sys and
autoexec.bat data here (including your mouse driver info); From now on,
when you choose start/shutdown, click on Restart The Computer In MS-DOS
Mode button, and it will use the settings you enter here. You'll find
that this works as well as a boot disk.
P.S. Don't try this unless you are comfortable with editing DOS files.
Copy the line off of your boot disk and loads your mouse and copy it
into you dosstart.bat file in your Windows directory. When you shut
down and restart in MS-DOS mode, it will be loaded.
