N2: Load Setups??? How??

by Ira L. Johnso » Fri, 27 Dec 1996 04:00:00

Hi,
I just got N2 for Christmas.  It didn't take me long to figure out the
default setups (fast, easy... ect) weren't gonna cut it.  So, I started
tweaking.  First the gear ratios, and steering lock (easy stuff), then I
move on to the harder stuff. After a couple hours of tweaking and testing I
was pleased with my setup (okay, at least it was better than Papyrus's
"Fast" setup)  I'd been saving it all along as "Test", using the save
button at the bottom of the screen.  It even confirmed the save.  Then I
went to race.  I had pace lap off by mistake. I quit to turn it back on
then reloaded Talladaga.  Went back to my setup page I noticed my Steering
lock was way back up to the default.  I thought:  No problem, I'll just
load my "Test" setup, that I know I'd saved.  Well, I couldn't figure out
how.  The pull down menus only had the choices of the default setups.  So I
broke down and got out the book (very unlike me).  The book shows a "Load"
button right next to the "save" button.  I don't have it on my machine!!
After all this rambling, I guess I have only one question: Would someone
please help me with this?

Thanx,  1ra

You cannot load other setups if you did the "minimum" install of N2 onto
your hard drive.  Your test setup is still there on your hard drive.  You
will just have to reinstall N2 and select the 100 Meg install.  I can't
figure out if this is an accidental omission or some lame-brained
designer/programmer actually thought this is how it SHOULD be.

By chance, did you do a minimal-install?...In order to load (and save)
setups, you need a full-install (AFAIK).
