GPL: Game hangs after mousemovement

Hello,

I just installed (or at least try to install) GPL but encounter problems
whilst configuring (identification part): The game (in fact my computer)
freezes all of a sudden and all I can do is perform a reset. Does anybody
know what's wrong?

Please help!

It's because you have a serial mouse. The 3dfx version of GPL only works
with a Ps/2 mouse. Connect a Ps/2 mouse to your ps/2 mouse port. If you
don't have a Ps/2 mouse port you have a big problem....

% You put the "glide2x.dll" from 2.53 in your GPL directory. Now GPL
will find
% it and use it before it looks in your Windows\system for Glide, but
all your
% other games will use the newer one in your Windows\system directory.

And you can get the file at
http://www.grandprix2.com/gpl/patches/glide2x_253.zip

Mixer,

I have an MS serial mouse connected to my PII 450 and EVERYTHING
(including GPL and N99) works perfectly.

Must be something else ???

Take care,

Thanks all of you for your information.

The switch beack to glide version 2.53 solved the problem for me. I hope
this helps other newbies when they encounter this 'hang'.

Incredible that such unrelated stuff seems to be related! ;-)

Don't laugh.  On my last computer when I upgraded to Windows95 from Windows for
Workgroups 3.22, I couldn't use my modem at first.  And it turned to be related to
animated cursors.  It seems like the geniuses who wrote the device drivers for my
S3 based video card decided to ignore the proper address boundaries and were
stomping on COM Port 2.  I could only use a modem on COM Port 4 because of my
video card!
