Hi everyone.. I have a P90 32megs with an ATI MACH64 Turbo 2megs VRAM. When I type 'gp2 log:on' I get a
video score of 107!!!! I played on my brothers P166 with a MATROX MILLENIUM 2megs VRAM and when I type
'gp2 log:on' I get a WHOPPOING 460 video score!!! My question is this .. Is the ATI MACH64 that shitty
of a card?!!??! Or does my brothers P166 have something to do with the high video scrores.. I would
GREATLY appreciate it if some out ther with other video cards (or an ATI MACH64) could post their video
scores.. I'm thinking of buying the MATROX if that's the problem..

I have a Matrox 4 meg card and get 606 on the video score.
Maybe the Matrox cards are that much faster.

Probably something wrong with your setup (I would'nt know what though).
I get a Video Speed of 164 with a 2meg DRAM Mach64 (ATI Xpression)
on a 486DX4-100.

I have p166 and Matrox millenium too and it gives me:

processor speed 393
video speed 473

looks like ATI makes good windows cards but thats about all theyre
good for...I have seen other posts about mach64 and they all have been
wondering their video performance in dos too...(their  video perf.
range seemed vary from 100 - 170).

Id like to see some video performance scores from diamond and
Hercules cards too...

has anyone tried univbe 5.2 with gp2?
it speeds up irc2 in svga ...atleast with diamond cards...
...so if U own a Diamond card try univbe and it should boost your
performance...dunno about other cards...Matrox has vesa 2.0 installed
in the card itself and I have seen posts that univbe doesnt really do
anything for them.

However...I may be wrong ...as usually :-)

I replaced the ATI Mach64 2MB VRAM with a Matrox Millennium 2MB WRAM and
got a jump in frame rate in GP2. I bought this card only for playing in
GP2. It was great. Get the Matrox, dump the ATI. The ATI is ok in Windows,
but awfully slow in DOS, especially the VRAM version.

You sure it's not overclocked?  :)  My P166 gives only 323.  :(
I guess I can live with that.  Now here is the real shocker:

Processor (x86): 5
Dos Version: 00000007h
Running windows 95 or above
Speed (c.f. DX2-66): 323
Video speed: 30

Look at the video speed.  It is just pathetic.  The video card is a #9
Imagine 2 (can you imagine that?).  Anyone else have the same card?  Is
there any hope?  Please help!

Otherwise I will have to return the card and buy a Matrox Millenium
instead.

The Matrox is the fastest Card, i have one too it is splended so buy it!

Looks like maybe Ville has his P166 overclocked or something.

Video score jumped from around 100 for the ATI, to around 490 for the
Matrox MGA Millennium. For the in game frame rate estimate, the increase was
about 3 more frames/sec. I would say it is pretty significant.
