i'm about to upgrade my 486sx 25 with 4 meg of ram, to maybe a dx2 66 or
even the AMD dx2 80. and also 4 more meg. My question is. Will this
computer run Nascar at a good enough speed.(i already have a VL bus
graphics card) i'm not particularly bothered about runing SVGA. What i do want
however is to run at full detail.

a further upgrade possiblity would be a dx4 75 overdrive chip. will this
be a better option (i have heard that these chips have bad overheating
problems). A add on upgrade would also be OS/2 would running Nascar under
OS/2 make any significant difference.

Thank you in advance.

I guess one man's fine is another man's unbearable!  Maybe it depends on
how many opponents you are running?  I have a DX2 66 with 8M and a VLB video
board (3dbench score 40.0) and with a full field (38 cars) SVGA mode is
like having a stack of photographs and thumbing through them one by one.

I`ve got an identical setup & it runs fine. It definitely doesn`t seem too
slow.....

But, as the story goes, everyone`s opinion is relative :-))

I had a SX25 & have just upgraded to a DX2 66. Nascar runs fine in SVGA with
car textures on & objects on. It should be fine.....

The thing to remember is that not all machines are created equal.
You have to take into account the speed of the graphics memory,
speed of regular memory, speed of the graphics card, speed of the
disk, speed of the game controller....
