They're almost all reference designs. Performance-wise, they're within
a few percentage points of each other.
One of the differences is that some of the early ones came with slower
than 3Dfx spec 100mhz RAM, due to claimed shortages when all the card
manufacturers were clamoring for it.

Look for the Silicon Magic designation on the RAM chips. This is the
fast RAM. I saw the STB Black Magic 12meg at EB for $150.
They were one of the ones using the slower RAM on the early boards,
but the Black Magic I got has the 100mhz RAM.
Excellent deal. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

WHAT IS THE BEST 3DFX CARD FOR THE MONEY

Say Hey All,
The cheapest 3DFX is the Banshee. (90$ after rebate)  I'm getting 36fps in

My PII233 chokes down to 15-17fps with only 5 cars on track.  For the truly
bucks-down among us, try the Diamond 220 (Verite 2100), at about 50$ it runs
all the 3d  features perfectly.

But without 32bit Colour 3D support it's a throw away card in 6 months time.
I'd really reckommend those wanting a 3Dfx card to get a Voodoo2. At least you
can keep that along side the card you'll need to run the real colour stuff
coming after Xmas.
