Rendition Chip Cards

I have heard a lot about using the rendition version of Cart Racing.

It seems that the games screams when using this version with a Rendition
video card.

Which are the video cards in the market that include the Rendition chip and
with which ones I can play Cart Racing with no problem.

Thanks again in advance.

 Fernando,
the Rendition cards fall into three camps. The older cards like the
Intergraph Intense 3D 100 use the Verite V1000 chipset and run Papyrus Cart
just great, no problemo. They are also easy on the pocketbook. The newer cards
including the Diamond Stealth II S220 use the Verite V2100 chipset and may need
a patch to run the game, but should offer a little better performance. The
Newest of all are the Verite V2200 boards which are just now coming on the
Market. Two I know of are the Jazz Multimedia Outlaw 3d and the Hercules
Thriller 3d. Both of these cards look to be outstanding. Take your pick, the
Intergraph will blow you away if you have never seen Rendition accelerated
graphics and is about a hundred bucks. The Stealth II is a little more work and
a little pricier at about One-twenty. The baby Thriller 4meg goes out the door
at PCZONE for about a hundred and thirty(?.) I would not hesitate to recommend
the Thriller, I'm sure you will be more than pleased.
    All the best, Mike Davis

From what I have read the V-2200 is supposed to be about 15% faster than the
V-2100.  I just bought a Hercules Thriller 3-D (V-2200) and absolutely LOVE
it!!

Scott,

I understand your problem.  :-) Sorry, I thought that you were unaware that
the card *just* shipped.  Maybe you can tell your wife that the "old" video
card is worn out and it needs to be replaced, or the computer may blow up?
(just a thought) <g>

It also runs at 60Mhz as compared to the V2100s 40Mhz in addition to the
faster RAM and RAMDAC.  It's probably worth the extra money to get the
Thriller over the StealthII.

Are there any rendition boards that operate as add-on accelerators
with the existing SVGA system?  For example, the Monster 3D board
loops the SVGA signal back in, then accelerates it with either
DirectX or OpenGL.

Some of us have the SVGA built into the motherboard, so the 3D
cards that also provide the display adaptor can't be used.

thanks,

No, but most of the MB's with on-board video provide some way to disable
it (usually via a jumper or a setting in the BIOS).

Nope, and mine's a pretty common HP machine.  That leaves the
true add-on, like the Monster-3d as the only possibility.  Kept
me from buying 1st gen rendition card last year.  Quake II on the
monster-3d is great, but it does nothing for N2.  With directx/opengl
support, a rendition accelerator would be a killer.

Hello, product planners...
