I have just brought the gp3 update and wonder where i can get good driving
setups for the tracks from? Any help much appreciated.

At the moment, they have setups for GP3 (not GP3-2000). However...you
can still load these setups and they are still useable to a degree.
You will need to tweak them. I've loaded the setups that I had
previously made and they load OK in GP3-2000. Just a fe changes
needed... ;-)
FYI, I have modified GP3-2000 with the following...
1. GP3-2000 decrypted
2. GP3 2000 Ed
3. GPxPatch 2.0
4. Hummerich's 2001 carset
5. Matti's 2001 track pack
And hey, a full 2001 game!
Before you install the above, make sure that you've done a Full
Install of GP3 2000 and then change all the GP3 2000 file attributes
from "Read Only" otherwise you may get some errors when installing
the unofficial patches and updates.

Any advice on what is causing the problem, and how to resolve it would
be appreciated.

Which files *exactly* need to be changed?
I've just checked my gp3 2000 files, and cannot find *any* that are read
only!
