I lost the rear end during a power slide through the long righthander,
and hit the barriers with the rear end. When I drove away, black smoke
was pouring from the engine when I revved it. Great! At high speed, the
car made a tail of smoke...

Power slides, engines on fire, engine damage, moving suspension. Let's
hope we even get REAL tire punctures, water/oil leakage, loose wheel nuts
(hehe) - all visible from external view...

BTW: Will GPL support Internet multiplayer? That'd be great!

From what I remember (very little) they designed the sim with multiplayer
at the front of their minds and have found a way to get rid of most of the
positional "warping" found in sims at the moment!

Of course this might be a completely different game I'm thinking of :-)

The game you may, just may, have heard that the internet warping was almost
completely removed in might be the upcoming MTM2. We've had hundred of races
in beta testing and warping is almost non-existent. I've raced people from
not only the other side of the country, but in Europe and Hawaii, and
sometimes all in the same race, and the multi-player feature worked great.
Hopefully, Papyrus has done the same with GPL.

It's pretty good in MTM2, but it DOES depend on lagtime. There were a
few races where a couple people had bad lag, and the warping was
pretty severe. Fortunately the game lets you see the lag on graphs, so
you can at least identify the source of te problem.

How's it going Joe? We had fun with those races and summits, didn't we?  :)
I was impressed with the lack of warping in the summits. They would have
been a mess if warping had been bad too bad. I haven't seen an internet game
yet that has done it better.

Busy, busy, busy. Just finished a major programming project, then a
friend from Toronto was visiting, so I haven't had much *** time
recently. A bit of GPL, a very little bit of Redline Racer (which I
don't really like). You guys still doing MTM2 mulitplay races? I'm
really looking forward to when this game is released so there will be
multiplays going on all the time.

I agree, the multiplay in MTM2 is better than I've seen before. Given
the inherent lag you sometimes get on the net, it's amazing how well
it does work. Though I prefer the races over the summits - the driving
model is my favourite feature of MTM2.
