GP2: Anyone blown a motor yet?

Does anyone know if you need to have invincibility turned off before the
car realism settings take affect?  I turned on all the potential
failures but haven't been able to get anything to fail yet.

I would drive around with invincibility turned off but I can't seem to
keep the car together long enough to blow a motor. :)

The only problem I've received is an "electrical failure" which locked up
the display and stuck me in 5th gear.  I saw someone else's engine blow up
and huge flames were shooting out the back

. I have gotten a blown engine, and also one time I had a transmission

I got a water leak the other day at Japan.  Pit crew fixed it in 8 seconds!

Talk about realism. Oh both times it was while driving the Benneton.

Not sure if you have to turn off Invincibility, since I don't use it.
Cheers.

I can agree. On my williams, I blew an engine (all of a sudden lots of
smoke and even a fire and no drive anymore) and once my front suspension
broke (just one wheel sticking up in the air and I wasn't in a
Ferrari ). Cool!

My  throttle stuck wide open (I think I was invincible).  Frightening.
Tried to feather the accelerator and get back to the pits, but
couldn't make it!

I was very 'lucky' in a way, that I had no mechanical problems with my
car yet even with all the failures turned on :(  And I was driving a
McLaran as well for a few 66% races.  I am also getting relatively few
failures in CC cars as well (about 2-3 cars in the whole 66% of a race)
which is suprising reliable for racing cars.  I wonder how many CC
cars failures that you guys got in a typical longish race?  Half of the
field down perhaps?

I've had throttle problems, the throttle suddenly increased as I was going
round  corner and took the front wheel and wing off, excellent!!!

In the Simtek during a 100% Championship Season on Ace level, I lost my
right front suspension on lap 16 at Monaco and lost my transmission
on lap 3 in Spain.  The average DNF over the first five races has been
7.5 with a high of 9 falling out of the Spanish Grand Prix.  Most are
mechanicals.  The AI seem to get out of the gravel traps
as easily as the player.  Maybe down the road a utility could be written
to make the gravel a race ender if you come to a complete stop.

At rookie level playing a Championship my engine blew within 5 laps at
Brazil, I was driving a McLaren with no aids turned on.

Yeah, shame it's so unrealistic isn't it?
Oh well....

I got a puncture at Brazil, on my right-rear tyre, so I got instantly
plunged off the track. Suspension failures act in the same way I
believe, but you get a warning beforehand.

Dave B.

PS. I've also had oil leaks, an electrical failure and transmission
probs.

I've blown an engine on the 27 Ferrari while braking for Tosa on lap 1. On the
replay, all of a sudden white smoke out the back of the car. I didn't notice
this during the race until I tried to accelerate up the hill. No power and very
limited revs. Can say that I did anything weird setting prior to the breakdown
other than the usual locking of tires going into the turn.

don't worry, it happened to me ... I was forced to park on the side,
and watch the end of the race... I was playing a nullmodem link race
with a friend...

On Hockenheim my car got stuck in 5th gear, so i fell back from 2nd to
5th place at the end of the race.

Haven't blown a motor yet, but at Brazil, just after I took the lead, I
felt the car lucrch going through one of the corners.  Looked at the dash
display and it said "Suspension Failure".
