Anyone tried the updated GP2 tracks yet?

by Stanley Cha » Tue, 29 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Hi,

There is this page http://www.racesimcentral.net/~darwent/gp2/tracks.htm
where updated GP2 tracks are available. Seems to me that track editing
is still much in its infancy, so no Melbourne or BA yet (and I thought
Xmas came early this year...). But could anyone who has tried the
circuits say what has changed?

Thanks,

Stanley Chan

Do you know if they are available anywhere else. I can't get through to
the above address.

Don't forget Austria we need a track for the A1-Ring for this year!

Still looking for mirror site, this site I think is dead or something,
or wont answer me.

Biggest laugh I've had in ages!
GP2 Track editing is indeed here and it is, indeed, in its infancy!

Save your old tracks, dl the new two from Pieters site,
then run a quick-race at Monza and go to director view.
Watch and enjoy :)

Had me in stitches!

The first steps have been taken though!

Rob.

Are these "updates" mainly new logos, signs, and 3do objects added to the
tracks
or is the actual architecture of the tracks manipulated? Any info would
be appreciated.

I noticed that the guys working on Nascar tracks basically just added
objects and new logos
to the tracks. No real difference in the track design itself. I found
they only took up
HD space, i.e. Alex Santantonio's so called "Daytona".

yes  I have, they are just manipulated original tracks and not able to be
driven well. Although...the possibilities?????

I didn't try them myself yet, but these "new tracks" have indeed a different
design. Don't get too e***d yet: the reports by people who drove them suggest
that the changes are "lucky hits" with a HEX editor and that the AI cars still
drive their _original_ lines for example.

Still, it's a start...

Hopeful,
