possible to buy a FF wheel without pedals?

by Adria » Fri, 24 Sep 1999 04:00:00

The reason I'm asking this is that I wanna buy a really nice set of pedals
(gas, brake, clutch, hing on the top, not the bottom-no reccomendations
necesary, i know exactly what i want:), but I also want FF.
As far as I know the MS and Logtech FF wheels come with pedals too, are
there any exceptions?
Or would it be better to buy a used FF steering wheel and connect it to the
really good pedals i wanna get.

P.S.
The addy of the pedals is: http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Sounds like you've fallen for these pedals, too! I have the LWFF wheel and
pedals and was anxious to try some better pedals. When I saw Nigel Nichols'
beauties, it was no contest. The only problem is he makes them in his spare
time and mine will be ready in a few weeks. I can't wait!

The pedals are an integral part of the Logitech, since that's where
the power plug goes. You can bypass them by wiring in new ones, or use
separate pedals on the joystick port for sims that recognize them, but
you get them no matter what.

Well power isn't really a problem, because the pedals aren't FF and thus
don't need a power source other than what's carried on the joystick cable.
Hey, I just thought of something!
The Logitech wheel is USB, so i just plug that into the usb port, the pedals
onto my soundcard and presto!...
no wire work necesary..cool...
that should work right?

Hi Adrial,

I don't know if you know this, but Nigel is installing a switch on his
pedals so that you can define them with split axis. That way they will work
just like the LWFF pedals.

It works on sims that support multiple controllers. GPL is the only
one I know of right now. I think the Motorsims AMA cycle game might
too.

NFS4 will support multiples, although its not really a sim.

I have those pedals and a LWFF wheel. I'm waiting on the adapter cable for
the pedals from Nigel.

When I get it, I will put the pedals into my PDPI card and the wheel into
the USB port.

I took the wiring & pots (leaving them all connected to each other) out of
the Logitech pedal unit and put them into a small 5cm square Jiffy box.

And presto!, no more annoying useless pedal unit*** around my desk.

I tried to disconnect the pots, but it doesn't work and the LWFF won't be
recognised properly in Windows. So I just packed them into the Jiffy box.

GPL with Force Feedback and quality pedals is PERFECT!
