Strange GPL problems after reformatting HD

Hi,
I had to reformat my HD so first I saved my GPL folder to a CDR.  After
I reformatted, I re-installed GPL from the original CD, then I pasted my
old GPL folder on top of the fresh installed copy.  Ever since then,
everything works OK except that now after I start GPL I always in up at
Silverstone in Single Race mode in a Lotus, even if the last time I
played I was at another track in practice mode, in a Ferarri.

because for some reason lately my news server only stores about 150
headers.  So if I only check for new messages once a day I never see a
lot of new messages.

Please help because if my GPL is not working normally, it is really hard
for me to sleep properly.  Thanks.

When you burned the files on your CDR.  All of there file attributes
are now set to "read only".  You have to reset them.  

You can reset them in a DOS window with "attrib -r -h -s *.* /s" in
the GPL directory.  Or you can use explorer.  Hilite the files, right
click, choose properties, general, uncheck all the attributes.

I wonder if your player.ini file might now be write protected?

I have had this happen to me a few times also.  I now zip the folder before
putting it on the CD and when I unzip it, all the attributes are still the
same.
