Logitech wheel and turn in on GPL

Logitech wheel and turn in on GPL

I have a logitech FF wheel (older addition) and I was wondering if anyone
else who has a logitech finds the turn in to corners not quite as sharp as
other wheels.  I have tried a thrustmaster and another cheap wheel (can't
remember the name) and I noticed both wheels can turn into a corner much
easier than my logitech (almost point and go).  They are using the same
setup as I am, so that can't be it.  I started playing with my logitech
settings for wheel sensitivity and that just made it too sensitive.  Either
too little or too much.  No fine medium.

Did anyone else experience this and if so, how to you correct it?

Thanks

What that sounds like is the amount of travel available for the different
wheels.  If the LWFF can swing through say 270 degrees from lock to lock, it
could seem slower responding compared to a wheel with only 180 degrees
travel

After a year and a half with the "good" Logitech, I
bought a Sidewinder (non-force) and started turning
times about a second faster at all tracks!

Dump the Logitech!

You might want to try adjusting the steering ratio in GPL instead of the
LWFF sensitivity.  Adjusting the steering ratio will give you much finer
control.

Actually, an unmodified older Logitech only has a bit over 180 degrees lock to lock; maybe 200ish?  Assuming all wheels are on the
same PC, he may have a loose pot fit, giving him a mechanical "deadzone" that software can't deal with.  My first one had this brand
new, and the fix is covered on Allison Hine's site at:

http://eaglewoman.simracing.dk/gpl/controls-readers.htm

The replacement, sent under warranty after a measly return spring broke at eleven months, was OK.  Lot of slop in the steering
column, but not the pot.

If he's comparing wheels on different PC's it's likely the deadzone settings are zeroed out on the others, but not his.  Sort this
with DXTweak, from:

http://www.wingmanteam.com/Latest_Software/Gadgets/gadgets.htm#DXTweak

Hope this helps,

SB

Dunno about other wheels, I only race the Logi.

Steering hack off?
Steering ratio at 10:1 or less?
This should cure your problems.

Also might want to increase the steering linearity (move the slider right)
to tighten the response around TDC.
