GPL Replay Analyser v6.0 released

by Martin Granbe » Sat, 13 Apr 2002 02:04:58

Hi everyone,

It time for a new release of GPL Replay Analyser (GPLRA) again -
version 6.0. This is release number 21(!?) since the first version was
released in January 2000. :)

So, what's new this time?

You can now watch entire races being replayed in GPLRA. This feature
will not make you faster, but is rather cool :) For full GP races this
requires a lot of memory, so be patient while loading race.
Screenshot: http://www.racesimcentral.net/

We've added a new GPLRank Calculator to PB-Viewer. This calculates
both the old GPLRank and the new ChallengeRank and MasterRank.
Screenshot: http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Splittimes and Sector times are now calculated in a more detailed way,
giving better precision.

The traction circle included in v5.0 is hard to interpret for many
people. So we've included a new experimental tool: 'Ratings' - this
calculates ratings for aggressiveness, smoothness etc based on the
traction circle values.
Screenshot: http://www.racesimcentral.net/(Track is
Imola)

You can now zoom in and out on the trackmap even though you are
"playing" driving lines or races.

Better performance (no/less flickering) while replaying on a full
screen trackmap.

And also:

*Now splittime markings are not drawn when saving trackmap to BMP.
*When extracting a lap to a new replay file you have the option of
retaining the old file date for easier comparison over time.
*The toolbar with laps to plot (buttons 1,2,3,4 and 5) are now turned
off by default. This to make room for more buttons for future
features.
*Track creation: The new trk23dof didn't like the scientific notation
in the grv file, changed this.
*GPLRA will now always start on the primary monitor (on multi monitor
systems)
*If you try to zoom in on the trackmap too much, you now get an error
message
*Updated the GraphClass. Many internal changes, but not many visible
ones.
*Fixed these bugs:
-Creation of groove crashed for some tracks, hopefully fixed.
-The zoom level when you saved trackmap to BMP was wrong, fixed this.
-If you did not use an alternative replay path PB-Viewer and Export
Records did not check the Replay databases for times on tracks not
currently installed (not installed=tracks removed both from
67season.ini and under \gpl\tracks\)

Sounds good Martin, thanks.

Ehm... this may be a bad time to bring this up, but I sort of assumed you'd
stopped development on GPL Replay Analyser and didn't want to bother you.
Would it be a lot of work to include a "top speed" report per driver for
race replays? Would be usefull to spot if a certain gearing or approach
yielded better top end, especially in spec or quasi spec series
(F2/FD/F3/FV/FG), or to spot calibration issues.

Jan.

Hi Martin

GPLRA is a fantastic utility which keeps getting better with each
release.

Great job!

Thanks

Do people still drive that :D

Big thanks for this - having used real data logging software from Stack and
Pi - I can say that GPLRA is better than the ***y lot of em !

Stopped development? :) Not at all, there are already changes being
made to be included in versions after v6.0 :)

This is a very frequent request for some reason. We'll bump it up on
the "todo" list.

One problem is that warp will make such a report unreliable. One
hickup from the server and the max speed will be very high.

/Martin

Hey Martin, has any one purchased N2002 for you guys yet?  If not, I will
volunteer so we can see a N2002 Replay Analyser :)

Fantastic stuff - I can't think of a better utility for any game I've
played - and it's still well under a meg. Quite brilliant. (Any chance
of being able to rewind the racing line display, though?)

Brilliant work as ever guys!

I may be going mad but on the 'graph' tool - Looking at Monza laps I
can't seem to get a highlighted position on the circuit map (bottom
left) as I move my mouse around the various graphs.

Cheers,

Andy

Probably not a rewind. The way we have implemented the driving lines
(to be fast to scroll and play) means it will be hard to do a rewind.
For the race replay we don't have to care about where the car was a
second ago.

It might happen though :)

Yeah, it was a long shot - I thought it might need some major surgery
to achieve. Never mind.

<Snip>

I've long since failed to be surprised at *anything* that turns up in
GPLRA - when's the tea-making attachment being released? ;_)

Have you tried the Competition Data "Track Master" software for looking at
recorded data?  I believe that it can read in Pi data and is much more
configurable than Pi V.6 (at least the last version I saw from a few years
ago).  For example you can save pages of pre-set plots on tabs.

Comp Data is located near us, but no financial connection with us.
