GPL Replay Analyser 4.0 released

by Martin Granbe » Mon, 12 Feb 2001 23:02:57

Hi everyone,

We've put together a new version (4.0) of GPL Replay Analyser for all
of you GPL fans to download.

Support for TaintRank (GPLRank's newest cool feature) and merging of
replays (same as SpyGirl but with more laps etc) are the main new
features.

The new stuff is:

*Export laprecords for ALL tracks to ini-file via PB-viewer. This
ini-file can be uploaded to various ranking sites, most notably the
TaintRank site. http://www.racesimcentral.net/

*Merging of up to 5 laps from different replay files to one single
replay file (a la GPL SpyGirl).

*Added option not to show warning messages when SpyGirl generated
replays are scanned in for example PB-Viewer, Export Records and
LapFinder.

*The Split Time marks on the track map now covers the whole width of
the track, not a fixed width as before.

*Fixed these bugs:
-ExportRecords and PB Viewer didn't list times for addon tracks on
Win2k. Fixed
-Some parts of the race report were not shown if qual info was missing
from the replay. Fixed.
-A couple of other bugs already forgotten...

Download and more info at:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/~GPL_Replay_Analyser/

Cheers,

/Martin and Jonas

The merging of more laps is fantastic and really usefull.
Big thank you!
Just a little reminder, 2 wishes for the next version:
- resizable window for the telemetry window (I'm sure you allmost
forgot about this wish :)
- ability to give one car an x.xx advantage in a merged replay (when I
compare a replay with Huttu I can see where he gains time at the first
corner - during the second corner he is allready out of sight, so I
want to give myself a 2-minute advantage to see how he can take that
last corner at the Ring so much faster :)

Any chance of this type of program for NASCAR4 and/or F1CS2000? I am NOT a
very good driver in these sims (heh heh my GPL rank is in the 300s), but I
do enjoy them (when I am not screaming in rage after sliding off the track!
lol). I think this program is awesome in its ability to let me see what I
did wrong. Thanks alot for the time and effort that has gone into its
creation!

>Any chance of this type of program for NASCAR4 and/or F1CS2000?

F1CS2000 is a certain no . Don't know the product at all.

About Nascar4 - I paste a text I once answered this question with
before:

"The replay file layout might look similar to GPL at the first glance,
but I'm sure there are a lot of differences. While making GPLRA
decoding the rpy-format was the single most time consuming task. We
are talking about several weeks of work.

The format might very well change between the demo and the final
version, so I'm not going to look into it until after N4 is released.
And then there is the track format which might have been changed a
lot.

Neither Jonas nor me are very much into driving in circles all the
time (yes, I know there are a couple of proper tracks raced too) so we
don't have the same motivation for devoting _a lot_ of time for making
tools available for free as we have for GPL.

I've tried the demo and raced a few races online and think it is good,
but it still is Nascar and not open-wheelers

I'm not saying we wont do it, but to spend the amount of time required
you need to be motivated.

Some people have suggested to us that we should charge for GPLRA, to
get something in return from all the work we have put down on it. But
since it was a program we would have done anyway for our own needs, we
didn't want to charge for it. But perhaps this is a possible route to
follow for Nascar4 Replay Analyser, I don't know."

That's where we still stand today. we don't know if we'll do it.
Nascar4 still isn't released in Sweden so we have yet no chance to try
it out either to see if we like it. :)

But for any GPL2 I can assure you we'll do a GPL2RA :)

Cheers,

/Martin

Any guess why I'd get a GPF within the EXE after selecting a lap to
load?

Nope. Does that happen with all replays or just one?

Yep.  <g>  I load any replay, select a lap, validate it and press
"Okay".  The frame of a window just begins to appear, then the GPF
dialog pops up.

Hmm, no idea what could be wrong. But look at File->Settings and
verify that the path to GPL is correct.

You are using v4.0 right?

It shouldn't crash no matter what, it should give an error message if
the path seems wrong. I'll look into it.

Anyway, good that you got it going.
