  Upgrade - I don't think there will be an upgrade to
  finish the product off, let alone add new functions :(

Rendition based cards are those video cards using the Rendition Vrit
graphics chip.  They are combination 2D/3D accelerators.  Currently
there are three to choose from:

Sierra's Screamin3D - http://www.sierra.com/hardware/screamin3d/

All of the cards are basically identical, and will differ only in the
quality of support each reseller gives and the bundled titles.  All
retail for $199, but the Reactor has a special holiday price of &149.
